With aviation’s broad national impact, it is to be expected there are a large number of associations that support various aspects of aviation. These organizations support all aspects of aviation from the manufactures and suppliers, to the operators, to the individuals who work in aviation.
There are a large number of non government organizations (NGOs) with involvement in aviation and form a community of their own. NGOs with interest in commerce, the environment, safety and consumers, among others make up this group.
The government community with a stake in aviation is extensive and encompasses entities at all levels, beginning with the Federal government and going all the way to municipalities and local governments. Each level of government has an important role to play in the safety, regulation and efficient operations of aviation and as such are important stakeholders of aviation.
Organizations involved in development and maintenance of structures for the aviation industry, including planning groups, land developers, and organizations looking at how advanced technologies and capabilities could address community mobility needs in the future.
Organizations that promote aviation safety, develop safety standards, approve aircraft airworthiness, and certify pilots and other aviation professionals. Also included are those involved in safety research and dissemination of research results to other aviation professionals and the general public.
This group includes companies that manufacture, maintain, and repair aircraft, including those that manufacture components, services, or products for aircraft, or buy and sell aircraft or parts. Also included are companies or other organizations interested in the future of manufacturing for the aerospace industry.
Providers of services for safe and efficient air traffic operations. Historically provided by government entities, these services will evolve to be provided by 3rd party providers and may include separation, sequencing, weather, surveillance, connectivity and in-time safety among many services enabling routine access for all aviation missions.
Organizations or individuals that operate air vehicles safely and within regulations. Typically these operators are licensed or certified to operate the air vehicle as a service or private person.
Customers of the aviation services provided by flight operators. These include passengers, package shippers/receivers, healthcare providers, patients, emergency services, communications providers, inspectors and surveyors among others.
